StormMeister® Flood Protection was founded in the UK in 2010 with the specific aim of solving the problems presented by conventional flood doors, which are difficult to operate. Today, they continue to provide protection through ever-changing climate

Standard flood protection products use conventional technology, which is often difficult to operate, relying on handle force.
Conventional flood doors need to be tightly locked whereas StormMeister® Flood Doors utilise floodwater pressure in conjunction with patented Active Flood Seals. In everyday operation, StormMeister® Flood Doors are no more difficult to lock than an ordinary door.
StormMeister® Flood Protection Doors are the ONLY manually operated flood doors to comply with BS EN 12217 Class 1 (100N or 10Nm) for external door sets.
Since StormMeister’s beginnings, we have continued to research and develop various forms of flood protection measures, such as flood barriers and our patented Low Threshold Outward Opening Flood Door, which allows both flood protection and wheelchair accessibility in compliance with planning and Building Regulations.
How are we adapting to climate change?
In an ever-changing world, a business’ environmental output and their contributions in becoming more environmentally friendly is becoming a part of the global consciousness.
Research has shown that up to 17% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions are produced by the business sector. Here at StormMeister® Flood Protection, we are making proactive changes to our business model to ensure we are working to industry standards while also making efforts to be as efficient, sustainable and green as possible.
We are working closely with Recycling Lives, an award-winning recycling and waste management company, founded in our hometown of Preston. Recycling Lives combines business and charity by supporting and sustaining charity programmes for the rehabilitation of reformed offenders, residential support for the homeless and food redistribution to those who need it the most – this allows Recycling Lives, and those companies working with it, to reduce the environmental cost of business, as well as improving the social value for society.
Recycling Lives is able to offer total waste management, meaning the majority of waste from StormMeister® Flood Protection is recycled to be used again in the future, rather than being confined to a landfill site for years to come.
StormMeister® Eco sustainable timber flood doors
StormMeister® Flood Protection has also recently developed our sustainable timber flood doors. The StormMeister Eco Timber flood door is made from Accoya wood in conjunction with Nitrile Butadiene Semi-Closed Cell compression seals. Accoya timber is specially treated with non-toxic, naturally occurring chemicals, which prevents the wood from absorbing water, outperforming traditional hardwoods to ensure a sturdy and reliable product.
Accoya wood is sustainably sourced from renewable, fast-growing forests, 100% biodegradable and remains CO2 negative over its complete lifecycle, making it an environmentally friendly alternative for the manufacture of our Eco Timber flood doors.
Traditional methods of timber harvesting can have a high environmental cost and could potentially result in deforestation, loss of wildlife and increased levels of carbon in the air.
Accoya is produced using tree species that are fast-growing, allowing a balance between manufacture of timber items and preservation of the Earth’s natural rain forests. The StormMeister® Eco Timber flood doors have been rigorously tested and proved to not visibly shrink, swell or distort the door or the frame, resulting in a product which you can be comfortable in the knowledge that it will be long-lasting, effective and better for our environment.
StormMeister® in the community
StormMeister® Flood Protection is also making efforts to ensure its social contributions are positive, both locally and further afield.
Much of the timber we use is harvested from the African rain forest, with traditional manual methods used to obtain it, rather than using heavy machinery that creates CO2 emissions which are harmful to the environment.
Furthermore, the work is carried out by the local people on a cooperative basis, so the whole community benefits. StormMeister® has worked with various charitable organisations and will also shortly begin collaborating with government agencies for the resettlement of refugees.
StormMeister® has been working with disadvantaged and disabled members of the community for many years in various roles, continuing to support for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged of our community and assisting wherever possible to ensure they have the support they need.
