Vitalia House in Paradise Industrial Estate, Hemel Hempstead, is set to become the new home for the National Demolition Training Group (NDTG) to undertake demolition, health and safety, and construction related training.
The National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and NDTG currently share Resurgam House, the adjacent building. However, an increase in the number of enquiries regarding demolition and construction industry training has led to the group requiring additional space.
The new site will comprise of two large training suites, and a purpose built room for a demolition simulator with an indoor practical training area.
Work on Vitalia House is expected to start imminently and should complete in time for the first trainees to use the facility from August 2015.
Lead Trainer/Assessor at NDTG Iain Kirk said: “The new training facility will give the NDTG more scope in course delivery and will enable us to train more individuals in making the demolition and construction industries a safer place to work.”
NDTG Manager Miranda Martin said the expansion would benefit the industry. She continued: “Vitalia House will give the NDTG greater flexibility in providing courses keeping the NDTG at the forefront of bespoke training for both our Members and customers in the demolition industry.
“The provision for a dedicated room to house the demolition plant simulator will greatly improve the ability to offer specific training courses in plant operation.”
The NDTG provide training in a number of areas within the demolition industry including general site operatives and demolition management. Courses are also offered in the field of construction safety.
The company issued over 12,000 certificates in 2014. It is expected the expansion in Vitalia House will see this figure increase significantly over the next year.
