UKasl has launched a new online asbestos awareness course, aimed at the construction and refurbishment industries…

The first UK online course dedicated to asbestos awareness has been launched.

Training provider UKasl launched the course, which aims to help people in the industry comply with government regulations relating to the management of asbestos.

The Hebburn-based firm said the course will enable those who are employed and self-employed to gain a fully approved certificate on all internet enabled devices. This includes iPhone, Android and table.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, managing director Les Cooper said it was “a huge reinvestment in their industry”.

He added: “This launch of the enhanced version of our training course will be the UK’s first and only fully responsive online asbestos awareness course, making it more convenient than ever for the construction industry and self-employed to fully comply with the latest Government regulations on asbestos training.”

The firm has also launched a series of online courses aimed at wider health and safety topics including Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, Emergency First Aid and Working Safely.

Asbestos-related illnesses kill around 5,000 people each year and dealing with asbestos involves strict regulations.

The courses will be available from the autumn.
