The Buildbase conference will take a more sustainable approach this year with the launch of the Buildbase Conference App

As part of its commitment to a sustainable future, the Buildbase conference will utilise the Buildbase Conference App so that all conference materials are available digitally. This means thousands of sheets of paper will be saved.

Normally paper is required for agendas, brochures, maps, exhibitor and speaker information, dinner events and seating arrangements but the bespoke app changes all of this.

The Buildbase Conference App for 2022 is compatible with Android and Apple mobile devices. It allows attendees to view what’s on, locations and even provide feedback to sessions.

Buildbase conference 2022 will focus on the acquisition of Buildbase into the Huws Gray Group

This year’s conference takes place on 6th and 7th April and will focus on the acquisition of Buildbase into the Huws Gray Group.

Attendees include all Buildbase employees along with 80 preferred suppliers who will exhibit products and showcase new releases. It is hoped that a digital scavenger hunt using QR codes will encourage engagement.

‘The intention is to become paperless and remove unnecessary waste’

Senior category planning manager at Buildbase, Nigel Sharper, has led the app’s development. He explained:

“We have stepped up our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our annual conference this year. The intention is to become paperless and remove unnecessary waste. Everyone has a mobile phone so it made sense to move everything that would normally be paper based to a digital solution.”

What are Buildbase’s other sustainable initiatives?

Buildbase’s eco friendly plans for this year include:

  • expanding its eco product range
  • identifying commercial vehicles that can be switched to electric
  • ensuring documented stewardship plans are in place for all aggregate suppliers extraction sites
  • working towards achieving 95% waste to landfill diversion
  • a 25% reduction of Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2025
  • ensuring that all timber products are PEFC or FSC compliant by 2026
