Several construction industry appointments have been announced this week by housebuilder Muir Homes, affordable housing specialist AJC Group and Tier 1 contractor Kier

Several construction industry appointments have been announced across the board this week, as Muir Homes appoint Peter Shepherd as managing director and Kier appoint David Hollywood as operations director for health major projects.

Meanwhile, AJC Group has made a trio of appointments across its business: John Langley, Mike Young, and Tarek Tabbah, who have all worked for AJC Group for several years.

Peter Shepherd joins Muir Homes as managing director with over 30 years of experience in the sector

Peter’s appointment as managing director at Muir Homes allows him to utilise his knowledge and understanding of working in a family business again. He will be responsible for Muir Homes’ strategy for future growth and will bring his board-level experience in project management of large-scale developments to his new position.

Muir Homes has over 45 years of experience building new homes across Scotland.  It is currently on site in locations across North Lanarkshire, Aberdeenshire, Perthshire and Inverclyde.

Peter will steer the business focus to regional markets across new areas of Scotland

Speaking of his appointment, Peter said:  “I have always admired Muir Homes, particularly for the high-quality family homes it delivers.  Muir has built a reputation and created a legacy of building beautiful homes people want to live in.

“Joining as managing director gives me the opportunity to steer the business focus to regional markets, particularly across new areas across Scotland.  I will also be looking to develop existing and build new supply chains, to support Muir’s housing development ambitions.

AJC Group makes a trio of promotions and several strategic hires

Affordable housing specialist has announced a trio of internal promotions and new appointments.

The promotions include John Langley, Mike Young and Tarek Tabbah, who have all worked for AJC Group for many years. The trio has been promoted to head up each department, creating three new roles in the business.

John Langley has been promoted to head of commercial, and has been with the business for several years and has previous experience working for Midas group and Greendale construction. Mike Young has been promoted to head of construction and will oversee the build programmes for all the housebuilder’s existing and upcoming sites. Tarek Tabbah has been promoted from technical manager to head of technical.

David Hollywood has joined Kier as operations director for health major projects

The last of the construction industry appointments to be announced this week was David Hollywood’s new role as operations director.

David’s appointment will strengthen Kier’s position in the health sector, and will lead on upcoming major health projects with a focus on key opportunities, including the New Hospitals Programme and Construction Works and Associated Services 2 (CWAS2) / ProCure 23 (P23).

Before he joined Kier, David was project director at ISG for two years. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, David has worked for contractors and NHS Trusts to deliver major health projects up to £400m in value.

Commenting on his new role, David said: “I’m excited to be joining the Kier business at a time when there are such great opportunities in the UK health market.
