The Galliford Try group is pleased to announce that David Ewing has been appointed as the new Morrison Construction managing director

David Ewing has been appointed as Morrison Construction managing director from 1 April succeeding Eddie Robertson who will retire from the business in June. He will be managing the Building Central business.

Ewing’s experience is impressive, with more than 30 years’ experience in the industry. He’s been with Morrison Construction as a commercial director for Building Central since 2015.

Ewing has been central to the team overseeing the Building Central business and as a result has become a cornerstone of Galliford Try’s Building division. In the last 10 years, he has increased and sustained their revenue by over £100m.

Ewing will further the business’s close collaboration with key partners

Robertson joined Morrison Construction in 2012 and helped develop an incredible track record in public sector building, having completed award-winning projects such as Barony Campus, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, the SportScotland National Centre at Inverclyde and The Halo in Kilmarnock.

Ewing will further the business’s close collaboration with key partners such as Hub South West, Hub South East and Hub West, and maintain Building Central’s position at the forefront of Galliford Try’s net zero carbon commitments. This will be achieved through innovative schemes such as the partnership with Construction Innovation Centre Scotland.

‘David’s appointment is a great example of succession planning in action’

Ian Jubb, managing director of Galliford Try’s Building Division, said the following on the appointment:

“Galliford Try places great importance on growing and developing our talent and David’s appointment is a great example of succession planning in action.

“I am delighted we have been able to make this appointment from within and David’s existing knowledge and experience of the business will be of great benefit moving forward.

“Eddie has been a fantastic leader for Building Central, during a period of sustained success. We thank him for his efforts and look forward to building on that strong platform with David in the future.”

David Ewing added:

“I am delighted to have been chosen to lead this fantastic team. We have a major role to play in delivering the Group’s Sustainable Growth Strategy through our commitment to innovation and collaborative relationships, and I look forward to working with all our stakeholders to make a lasting impact on Scotland’s built environment in the years to come”
