Mike O’Brien has been appointed as director for Turley’s Manchester planning team

Joining the team in Manchester from Hourigan Connolly, Mike O’Brien will bring years of experience having worked with many national and regional housebuilders and land promoters.

The appointment follows a rising demand for senior expertise on projects across the region, particularly within the residential sector.

Mike O’Brien will join six existing directors for Turley’s Manchester planning team.

The multi-service consultancy also offers economics, design, heritage, strategic communications and sustainability expertise.

The consultancy has also added Elinor George as senior planner, and Jenny Fryer as planner, to further reinforce the north’s planning team.

Head of planning for the north at Turley, Stephen Bell said: “Our work and reputation in the residential sector is well-established and continues to grow.

“We have helped deliver numerous large-scale permissions over the last year and are promoting many more sites through Local Plans.

“Mike’s knowledge and experience in this area complements our existing capabilities and will help us achieve even more for our clients. The team and I are very much looking forward to working alongside Mike, Ellie and Jenny in the future.”

Jack Boyce and assistant consultant Esme Parkins have joined the strategic communications team, also based in Manchester.

Emma Dickson, director in Turley’s strategic communications team, added:

“We have brought in Jack and Esme to help with growing demand for political expertise which is an increasingly important part of de-risking the planning process for our clients.

“It’s great having them on board and their experience will extend further our offering to clients.”

Known for providing professional expertise and in-depth market knowledge on a national scale, Turley promoted land for 180,000 homes and 6.5 million square meters of commercial floorspace in 2017 alone.

Recently, Turley has helped to secure the approval of a multi-million pound waterfront development, acting on behalf of the Port of Milford Haven.
