BSRIA North has announced an exciting line-up of imminent go-to industry training courses from its premises in Preston, Lancashire
Since BSRIA’s northern base officially opened for business last summer – members and wider industry based in the north of England – have embraced the opportunities created by the “northern powerhouse”.
Supported by BSRIA’s industry-renowned technical guides, these courses range from introductions for non-engineers or those new to the industry, through to specialist training for practitioners.
Soft Landings Level 1 – 15 March – 09:30 hrs
Many buildings are sustainable and robust on paper, but not in reality. Soft Landings is a BSRIA-led process, developed through published guidance and the collaborative Soft Landings Network, that aims to help bridge the gap between design intent and actual performance.
This course will inform delegates about the quality-focused process that defines what clients require, establishes performance targets, continually reviews what is taking place, places greater emphasis on building readiness at handover and then stays involved with a building to fine-tune it and learn how it really performs.
Pre-Commission Cleaning of Pipework Systems – 22 March – 09:30 hrs
Thorough pre-commission cleaning of pipework has become even more important with the adoption of energy efficient control strategies that may result in low flow rates, particularly in terminal units with very small orifices in control valves.
The course will provide a better understanding of the issues and procedures involved with pre-commission cleaning, and is aimed at those either involved in pre-commission cleaning or overseeing the process.
Introduction to Thermography – 18 April – 09:30 hrs
This course will enable those new to thermography to start to use thermography on building fabric and building services. Delegates will gain an understanding of the principles involved, the most suitable conditions and the best methods to use.
Level 1 Airtightness Testing – 23 April – 09:30 hrs
This four-day course provides the theory behind airtightness testing as well as “hands-on” training. It culminates in a three-part examination which, when passed, will enable delegates to begin the process of registration. The practical demonstrations and practical exam on this course are carried out using Minneapolis blower door equipment.
June Davis, BSRIA North Business Manager, said:
“This fantastic collection of courses covers the full legislative spectrum to equip members and industry with a great grounding in the built environment. They will offer technical expertise in the full supply chain. The courses are not simply ‘chalk and talk’, they will be fully interactive with practical demonstrations and, in some cases, delegates will undertake simple example calculations. Where appropriate – free copies of technical guides are provided.
“I have been continuing to support and enrich current BSRIA members based in the north of England and, of course, I am keen to see any member or prospective member at our offices. Indeed: I urge members and industry alike to book on to these courses without delay!”
