Martin Ballard will join the Wates Group as head of environment, where he will be responsible for delivering company targets such as zero waste and zero carbon
Mark Ballard has been announced as the new head of environment at Wates Group.
Ballard joins the team after eleven years at Willmott Dixon as group environment director, where he led the environment team on legal assurance, environmental protection and promotion of environmental improvements.
Mark Ballad brings an extensive environmental career to Wates
With over 14 years of experience in in water management and team leadership, Mark Ballard has experience of delivering on waste, water, and carbon reduction, as well as strategic stakeholder and supply chain engagement.
This includes water, waste and environmental management across several frameworks with suppliers and developing and establishing pioneering carbon reductions.

The new head of environment at Wates will help deliver:
- Zero waste from Wates operations by 2025: Wates aims to reduce and then eliminate the production of all waste created from on-site operations.
- Zero carbon from Wates operations and operational vehicles by 2025: Wates aims to reduce carbon emissions from Scope 1 and 2 operations and to become carbon neutral.
- Positive impact on nature from all operations: Wates aims to enhance the natural environment wherever it operates and to increase the value and community benefit of natural environments.
