Orbit Homes has appointed its first female assistant site manager, Jayne Carabott, who will be based at the upcoming Felix Park development in Soham
Jayne Carabott has extensive experience in the property sector, having worked as an assistant site manager at Crest Nicholson for four years as well as positions at Taylor Wimpey and Countryside Properties.
Jayne will be an essential part of the team that oversees construction at Felix Park and delivers the 149 properties at the site.
Felix Park will be located on land between Regal Lane/Blackberry Lane and the A142 in Soham and will feature 149 properties, of which 41 will be affordable.
Working in a heavily male-dominated environment
Group director of Orbit Homes, Helen Moore, said: “Jayne brings a wealth of experience from her time with three national housebuilders and we’re extremely pleased to welcome her to the business.
“I have worked in a heavily male-dominated environment of property, construction and housebuilding for my entire career and whilst there have been big strides over the years, there is still a very significant imbalance in the sector; particularly in construction.
“I am passionate about encouraging more women to join the wider construction industry and more particularly our direct build team at Orbit Homes.
“This is such an exciting and rewarding sector and I hope appointments such as Jayne’s will become a more regular occurrence in the near future.”
Jayne commented: “I’m delighted to be joining such a forward-thinking business that not only builds and provides much-needed affordable homes, but also reinvests back into the communities it is building in to support the local economy.
“We want to have a positive impact on people’s lives and create homes that people want to live in, in areas where they want to live and I’m looking forward to delivering this for our new residents in Soham.”
