“With the UK in the grips of the worst housing crisis in a generation, innovation and accelerating the development of new homes isn’t just important for meeting housing need, residential property is also an increasingly important asset class and a driver of productivity and economic growth. Now is the ideal time to recruit a residential expert to the school.”
As well as taking up the post of Honorary Professor, Paul will also serve on the School’s Independent Advisory Board.
Mike Basquill, UK Residential Associate Director at the RICS commented: “Increasing housing supply is key to solving Britain’s broken housing market. This means delivering a mix of tenures including significantly increasing the supply of affordable homes.
Paul brings a wealth of experience in residential development and has successfully worked with the national, regional and local government on supply side issues.
We see Paul’s appointment as a welcome opportunity to build closer links with the Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management as they partner with industry and government to transform UK construction.”
Paul Hackett added: “I’m delighted to accept appointments to The Bartlett and the RICS – two genuinely world-leading institutions that put the UK at the forefront of research and innovation in the built environment.”
