Raising Roofs, the scheme for helping young people get onto boards of housing associations has announced several CEOs as programme facilitators
Raising Roofs participants will learn together about a range of subjects including what it means to be a board member, different leadership styles, getting messages right and how boards manage growth and risk.
Participants will also be able to observe board meetings in other housing associations and be mentored by a senior executive within their own organisation.
Andrew Murray, lead partner for social housing at Winckworth Sherwood, will be one of the expert facilitators, leading a session on governance.
Other housing leaders who will be facilitating the programme include Ann Santry CBE, chief executive of Sovereign, Geeta Nanda OBE, chief executive of Metropolitan, and Richard Petty, former chair of Richmond Housing Partnership and JLL lead director of Residential Advisory.
Former local authority chief executive, government advisor and highly experienced trustee and NED, Sue Charteris will be leading a session on ethics and corporate social responsibility, and how the board and executive work collectively.
Sue Liburd MBE, dynamic business leader and mentor, nominated for the BBC Women’s Hour 100 Powerful Women List in 2013, will be joining Raising Roofs’ programme director Dr Ruth Sacks to discuss leading a multi-generational workforce.
David Levenson, co-founder of Raising Roofs, said: “We are delighted that Winckworth Sherwood has agreed to be a sponsor of Raising Roofs.
“The programme’s aims are to support tomorrow’s housing leaders and bring forward a more diverse group of candidates for board positions and it is gratifying to receive the endorsement of one of the leading social housing law firms.
Andrew Murray added: “Winckworth Sherwood is committed to the social housing sector with a long and successful track record advising providers across the country.
“Preparing and equipping the leaders of tomorrow is vitally important to the long-term future of the sector, and we are thrilled to be part of the Raising Roofs programme.”
The Raising Roofs programme will be holding sessions at venues in London, Leicester, Manchester and Sheffield.
