Award-winning, independent planning and research consultancy Nexus Planning has appointed Sarah Roe to the role of associate director on its London team
As associate director, Sarah Roe will work alongside director and senior living sector lead Tim Spencer. Roe will be in charge of developing the consultancy’s nationwide strengths in this specialist area and using her expertise to support a cross-section of clients. Nexus London has a 15-person team based at Waterloo, and ambitious plans for further expansion.
Experience
Roe’s career began in local government working for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead before joining Churchill Retirement Villages two years later. She is also a chartered town planner and spent over a decade at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).
Roe is joining Nexus from Strutt & Parker. She brings with her a wealth of experience spanning consultancy, developer and local authority sectors. Roe has also established herself as a specialist in senior living developments over the course of her career.
Roe has successfully negotiated a number of major retirement living schemes. Projects include securing permission for:
- a 90-bed care home for Signature Senior Lifestyle in Wandsworth
- a 70-bed care home for Barchester in the Green Belt near Selby, Yorkshire
At Strutt and Parker Roe was closely involved in land promotion – this experience will aid Nexus Planning’s market leading Strategic Land team massively. She has also previously been involvement with managing planning appeals at inquiry level, directing public engagement strategies, policy analysis, feasibility studies, complex Green Belt sites and projects involving heritage assets.

Two new planners
Two new principal planners have also been recently appointed to Nexus’ London and Reading teams- Lucy Morris and Matt Harris.
Morris formally worked at WSP (formerly Indigo Planning) where she worked on the promotion of new homes for projects including Greenacre (Warlingham), Wyke Road, (Merton) and Cobbold Mews (Ealing).
Harris has more than six years’ experience in the public sector at both Runnymede and Elmbridge Borough Councils where he worked in Development Management on a diverse range of planning applications.
Finally, Megan Douglas is joining the team as well after completing her Masters in Town and Regional Planning at the University of Liverpool last year.
