Hull-based offsite contractor, M-AR is proud to have been named Business of the Year at the Hull Live Business Awards

The Hull Live Business Awards, organised by the Hull Daily Mail, celebrate the very best of business across the city and East Riding of Yorkshire. This year’s awards shone a spotlight on the hard work, determination, innovation, and above all passion, which is behind the region’s brightest and best companies.

M-AR, which was founded initially as a hire company in 2007, wowed the judges to take home the title of ‘Business of the Year (over 51 employees)’ this year.

Trebled turnover

It was the contractor’s sustained growth with a staggering 300% increase in turnover on last year, and commitment to championing modern methods of construction which made M-AR stand out above the competition.

In the last 12 months, despite challenging conditions in the wider construction industry, M-AR has continued to invest heavily in both its staff and facilities with a 75% growth in its workforce, a comprehensive training programme to upskill staff, and a new factory which provides 100,000 sqft of dedicated manufacturing space.

Children in need project

As well as impressive trading results, the judges were also won over by M-AR’s people-centric approach to business, which sees it put people at the heart of everything it does – from its staff to those who will eventually call its buildings home. And its generous support to a recent Children in Need project in its home city of Hull demonstrates this commitment perfectly.

Ryan Geldard, operations director at M-AR said: “It means the absolute world to us as a business to win this award. Being recognised like this is a fantastic tribute to everyone at M-AR who all work so hard and have dedicated so much time and effort to help us achieve great things for our customers.

“I’d like to thank the entire team as well as our customers and our supply chain who have all supported us every step along the way and made us the company we are today.

“We pride ourselves on building relationships and constructing communities by putting people first and this is something we’ve taken care not to lose sight of, even as we’ve grown in size.

‘Ambitious plans to become a full turnkey contractor’

“We’ve got ambitious plans for further growth and to become a full turnkey contractor in the next five years but we’ll remain proud of our Hull roots and the people who we build with and for.

“We’re proud to be Business of the Year and are looking firmly ahead to the future and what else we can achieve for us and for our customers.”
