Premier Modular has been awarded a multi-million pound contract to provide 25 standalone Covid-19 test centres across the UK
Premier Modular is very pleased to be playing their part in the national effort to support the NHS in increasing testing capacity in the current pandemic.
The first centre arrived on-site in Bolton on 16 September – and opened on the 17 September to help address the local demand for testing.
Premier Modular’s next site will be Portsmouth.
Procured through Crown Commercial Service, the contract involves detailed logistical planning and high-level project management to provide all the facilities required for each test centre – a 110sqm testing building, offices, staff welfare including canteen and toilets, and all services – generator, water supplies and waste management.
This is an example of how modular construction can help the NHS respond to changing local needs and an urgent requirement to rapidly increase capacity.
Nightingale Hospital, Exeter
The contract follows Premier Modular’s successful delivery of 1700sqm of modular buildings for the new Nightingale Hospital in Exeter in just four weeks.
David Harris, managing director of Premier Modular, said: “The level of collaboration on the Nightingale Exeter project to achieve such an ambitious programme was incredible and is a real credit to the UK construction industry.
“We are really proud of our teams across the business – design, production, logistics and on-site – who pulled out all the stops to reduce the modular build programme from four months to just four weeks. This has helped to create a new hospital to support the South West.”
The majority of sites will be delivered by the end of October.
