Corby Borough Council and F1 Modular marked the start of work on the site of a disused garage block at the head of Wilby Close
The latest regeneration project will see the demolition of 12 garages to be replaced with a block of 4 modern, 1 bedroom council flats. The homes will be built using modular construction techniques.
All units, including kitchens and bathrooms will be built in a factory and then lifted onto the site before the brickwork and landscaping is finished off, meaning less labour work will be visible to residents.
The project will be complete by Autumn 2019 and is funded by Right to Buy Receipts. The 4 new modular construction properties will add to Corby Borough Council’s housing portfolio and will bring the number of properties built by Corby Borough Council to 246 since 2010.
Once complete, all 4 of the new flats will be available for rent and added to Keyways.
Corby Borough Council’s lead member for housing, Councillor Bob Eyles, said: “We are extremely happy to be working with F1 Modular on yet another project that will bring more much needed, modern and affordable homes for the people of Corby.”

“The units are currently being manufactured in the factory (I saw them there a few days ago!) and will shortly being transported to site. Modular construction enables the energy efficiency of the houses to be increased as well as minimising the disruption on site.”
