The modular homes, manufactured in the ilke Homes factory in North Yorkshire using precision-engineering techniques, are high quality and enjoy a greater energy efficiency rating
As a result, tenants of the modular homes in Newton Aycliffe could save up to 20% on their utility bills compared to new build homes built traditionally.
Sean Brodie, executive director of finance and development, said: “We are excited to be embracing modern methods of construction, including offsite construction, which is helping us to deliver our ambitious targets of providing much needed new homes in local communities.
“Modular homes are becoming more popular and substantially reduce the construction time required on-site, meaning less noise and less inconvenience for local residents.
“We are really impressed with the overall design and the quality of the finished product from ilke Homes and look forward to receiving feedback from our tenants.”
Dave Sheridan, executive chairman at ilke Homes, added: “It’s wonderful to see our precision engineered homes arrive at Newton Aycliffe and watch local housing providers like Livin wholeheartedly embrace offsite.
“By manufacturing these homes in our factory, we can ensure that they are built to last and perform for tenants, providing comfort, quality and cheaper energy bills.”
It is expected these homes will be available to rent through Durham Key Options in early November.
