New, highly focused working group reflects rapidly expanding sector of modular homes construction
Representing a broad spectrum of materials and technologies, the Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA) recently launched a Volumetric Homes Group to reflect the huge demand in the residential sector.
“Modular construction has been hailed as one of the most efficient offsite solutions – particularly for the residential sector,” says chief executive of the MPBA, Jackie Maginnis.
“As the industry expands and new entrants are established in this space, we feel that the time is right to develop a highly focused working group.”
The group will be chaired by leading offsite industry experts from Cogent Consulting and will initially be led by managing director Darren Richards.
The Volumetric Homes Group will focus on module manufacturers across all material types – providing that they are being developed for permanent applications across all aspects of the residential sectors.
Proposed Meeting Dates:
Afternoon – 16 May 2019
Morning – 10 October 2019
Morning – 28 November 2019
To register your interest in attending one of the meetings, please go to www.mpba.biz/volumetric-homes-group.html. “The MPBA is the single recognised voice for promoting and marketing high-quality products and services across the sector,” adds Jackie Maginnis.
“Through the association’s excellent reputation, we have acquired members who specialise in all types of modular building applications. We welcome manufacturers of volumetric housing solutions to join our group. Through the power of collective activity, we can take this innovative sector forward.”
Representatives from the Volumetric Homes Group will be attending various MPBA exhibitions and event activities throughout 2019, including Offsite Expo and Modular Matters.
Once established, it is proposed that the group will engage with key industry stakeholders and industry bodies such as the NHBC, BLP, ABI, Homes England, BuildOffsite, NHF, HBF and the Housing Forum. The involvement of these various organisations will be on a non-commercial basis with a view to knowledge sharing and mutual support, with the primary focus on ensuring that MPBA and the Volumetric Homes Group become engaged at the right level to ultimately become the ‘go to’ body for all things associated with volumetric modular housing technologies.
The MPBA collaborates with specialist technical advisers to enhance innovation in the design and manufacture of modular buildings. Members network with other offsite construction professionals and gain access to training courses and events that constantly offer new, innovative offsite construction techniques.
With MPBA’s assistance, offsite construction companies remain ever-competitive in the modular and portable building industry. The association is represented on committees for BSI, LPCB-Expert Group D and works with BRE, LABC, CLG, NHS, Cskills-CITB, Carbon Trust, NHS and many more to represent the industry.
The modular and portable industry as a whole is worth billions of pounds – for more information on the benefits of joining the MPBA go to: www.mpba.biz.
