Morgan Sindall has won a contract worth £4m to build a new block for Llwyncrwn Primary School in Beddau, near Pontypridd…

The building will contain seven new classrooms in a bid to increase and improve education provision in the region.

The project, which is being overseen by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, expects to achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of very good.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s cabinet member for education and lifelong learning Eudine Hanagan said: “Delivering the best possible educational facilities for our children is a crucial element in helping them to achieve their potential and we will continue to do all we can to improve and invest in our schools so they are fit for the 21st century.”

The scheme will be ready for use in February 2016 and will be one of many school projects undertaken by construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall. The firm is also working on a £3.2m project to build a new primary school for Monmouthshire County Council, and a £7m building project for Cardiff City Council.
