Ground engineering specialists, Aspin Group, has fallen into administration causing the loss of hundreds of jobs
Aspin Group provided civil engineering products and services, with expertise in foundations and piling for rail, power networks, civils, and highways.
The firm revealed that yesterday (11 July), “the directors of the company appointed Sean Bucknall and Brian Burke both of Quantuma LLP, 37 Frederick Place, Brighton, BN1 4AE and Andrew Hosking of Quantuma LLP, High Holburn House, 52-54 High Holburn, London, WC1V 6RL as Joint Administrators of the company.”
Many former employees took to social media to express their sadness. With one stating; “Truly shocking to have lost my job yesterday, as have all my colleagues, thanks to Aspin suddenly entering administration.
“It’s difficult not to feel frustration however, considering the Structural Investigations (previously RSI Ltd) team I had the privilege of managing had been awarded framework contracts for the next 4 years that would have provided job security for the whole team, following what was a very successful year in terms of adaptation and growth.”
Another said: “Very sorry to hear the news that Aspin has gone into administration today, especially for many employees who have worked hard to make it a success. There are many reasons why these situations occur and I am sure this will have some knock-on effects.”
Aspin had earned its reputation as a UK leader in the provision of high-quality foundation, civil, geotechnical and structural engineering products and services for the rail, highways and infrastructure sectors.
The firm was bought in March 2018 by private equity firm Sandton Capital Partners who had plans to develop the business by 50%.
On its website, Aspin said: “The affairs, business and property of Aspin Group Limited (in Administration) are managed by the Joint Administrators, who act as agents of the company and contract without personal liability. If you have any queries please contact Quantuma LLP on 01273 322400.”
