Commencement works are imminent on the ‘100 Avebury Boulevard development’ in Milton Keynes, with Earthworks being conducted by Mick George Ltd on behalf of principal contractor, Galliford Try Building Ltd.
Avebury Boulevard project is set to become Central Milton Keynes newest Grade-A office and retail development, with the first occupants expected to be in place by the late summer of 2019.
This sustainable and low energy BREEAM accredited building will provide 140,000 sq.ft. of contemporary office space and retail space across 8-floors, as well as a private multi-storey car park. The Landscaped public plaza at the front of the building provides valuable external amenity space, and a suitable walk-way through to the 10m high reception area.
A landmark office building
The aspiration for this project is to provide a landmark office building of the highest quality, able to attract blue-chip tenants, whilst making a major contribution to the ongoing development of CMK. AW James, the commercial property services company behind the creation, has prioritised ‘comfort, well-being and cost efficiency’ as the criteria driving the build.
Beyond the impressive specification of the building structure itself, the strong economic positioning that Milton Keynes has demonstrated, will undoubtedly appeal to prospective residents.
The Borough is one of the fastest growing local authorities in the UK with a large, diverse and dynamic local economy with more jobs than resident workers. Approximately 50,000 people are estimated to commute into MK daily, which is supported by wide-ranging infrastructure links to this easily accessible geographical location.
Milton Keynes has for the third year in a row been reported as the UK’s fastest-growing economy and was one of only 7 cities to achieve annual GVA growth of at least 2.0% in 2017 Q2. It also topped the league table for employment growth.
Network Rail, Santander and Home Retail Group are just a few of the examples of corporate organisations who have located their head offices in CMK.
Michael George, Contracts Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’It’s always nice to have some association with high-profile projects such as this. We have been selected on merit to deliver the Earthworks package, which is a testament to our service offering. We have a strong partnership with Galliford Try Building Ltd and I’m positive that will be reflected in performance for this particular job.’’
