Data analysts’ Barbour ABI has ranked BAM as Britain’s top construction company, in its latest 12-month league table

Barbour ABI’s 12-month rolling league table has placed BAM’s UK business as the top construction company, compared to all other contractors over the past year.

BAM’s total projects value came to £2,021.9m. Wates and Kier followed in second and third place.

Last last year, BAM won the first-ever Team Award at the Construction Industry’s Annual ‘Oscars’.

BAM will deliver the UK’s most sustainable studio development

BAM is close to completing the most sustainable studio development in the UK for Sky Studios, in Borehamwood, coming in at around £200 million. It has also recently been appointed to refurbish the Grade II listed £110 million Space House in London.

BAM developments in Scotland and Manchester

In Scotland, BAM Properties is behind the country’s largest speculative development at Atantic Square, housing the HMRC and some of Scotland’s largest law firms.

In Manchester, BAM is building Europe’s largest indoor entertainment arena, Co-Op Live, on the Etihad Campus, valued at over £250 million.

BAM healthcare developments

BAM’s healthcare schemes include a series of works for Bristol Royal Infirmary, Camden and Islington NHS, Salford Royal Hospital among others. It also manages facilities at the Exeter Nightingale Hospital.

The civil arm of the company is part of the HS2 consortium which is deploying significant use of off-site manufacturing techniques. It is also working on the TransPennine upgrade for Network Rail and conducting pioneering works at the British Antarctic Survey.

BAM 2022 developments

So far this year, BAM has been appointed by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to deliver a £24.7m Bedworth Physical Activity Hub, as well as a new £7m SEN school, Cedarbank School, in Livingston, West Lothian.

A spokesman for BAM said: “Tables like this are always subject to change of course. Many of those outside our industry may not appreciate the range and extent of BAM’s involvement in creating British infrastructure and new buildings and this gets the message across that our approach – prioritising sustainability and digital construction techniques – has led us into a prominent market position.”
