Image of Construction, the national event hosted by the Considerate Constructors Scheme is set to take place on 11 September in central London

Now in its sixth year, the Image of Construction event is a must-attend for anyone in the construction industry who would like to learn more about best practice in considerate construction.

Everyone involved in construction has a hugely important role and responsibility to be a better, more considerate organisation for the benefit of their workforce, the local community and the environment – all of which are impacted by construction activity.

Image of Construction is a free event which provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Attend practical workshops and presentations for guidance on how to raise standards both on and off site.
  • Meet representatives from a range of external organisations specialising in key industry issues such as: tackling illegal working and modern slavery in construction; improving mental health; recruiting the next generation; and reducing the environmental impact of air pollution.
  • Gain valuable knowledge from senior Scheme Monitors to: improve performance against the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice; achieve higher scores; win national awards; and help win new work.
  • Network with like-minded peers from across the construction industry.

Organisations exhibiting in previous years include: BOHS, CALM, CITB, CLOCS, Construction Dust Partnership, Home Office, IOSH, LGBT, Network, Mates in Mind, Prostate Cancer, SKCIN, The Lighthouse Club, The Prince’s Trust and WISE.

For the first time, the Scheme welcomes CITB as its Headline Partner. The Scheme is also offering a range of other partner and exhibitor opportunities for relevant organisations wishing to showcase their considerate credentials.

Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy said: “The Scheme is very proud to announce the sixth Image of Construction event. This is an essential event for anyone involved and committed to improving their performance in considerate construction and the image and reputation of our industry. Attendees are provided with an exclusive opportunity to meet external organisations who can help them to improve their performance in being a considerate constructor and work to even higher standards; this applies to every organisation involved whether a contractor, sub-contractor, supplier, professional or client.

“We are delighted to have the CITB as our headline partner of the event, and we thank them for their support in our goal to make this year’s event the most successful to date. The CITB’s involvement reflects the Scheme’s drive to help address the issue of recruitment and retention in our industry. We hope this collaboration will help to inspire and enthuse the next generation of workers to view the construction industry as an appealing sector to work in – one which is both rewarding as a career choice and respectful to its workforce, local environment and community.

Commenting about CITB’s Headline Partnership of Image of Construction, CITB’s Industry Relations Director Mark Noonan said: “Improving the image of British construction is a vital step to attracting the talent we need in years to come. That’s why we are proud to support the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s Image of Construction event, which does so much to spread knowledge and understanding of considerate construction to raise standards and demonstrate what an exciting sector this is. I hope as many employers as possible make it along to the event to share best practice and make change happen.”
