Interserve Group Limited has been awarded the contract to deliver an £11.5m day surgery and outpatients scheme for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of district general hospital services including an urgent care department, critical care, coronary care and general medicine.

The hospital has around 220 beds, a large operating theatre complex, outpatient suites and education facilities.

New day surgery and outpatients scheme

The scheme will facilitate the provision of new day-case theatres and Ophthalmology services at the Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, providing patients with a choice of location and access to facilities as well as increasing theatre capacity on the site.

The new contract with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust follows on from a number of new business wins for Interserve Construction in the healthcare sector including a £13.9m contract to refurbish the Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust’s Roseberry Park Hospital and a £20m contract with St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in South London.

The company has also been named as preferred bidder for the £36m redevelopment of Walsall Manor Hospital by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Interserve Construction will commence work on the new-build project in July and the new unit is expected to be completed in October 2021 to deliver improved clinical services to the community in mid-Lancashire.

ProCure22

The contract follows Interserve Construction’s appointment as the principle supply chain partner (PSCP) for the scheme as part of ProCure22 (P22), the Construction Procurement Framework administrated by the Department of Health & Social Care for the development and delivery of NHS and social care capital schemes in England.

Phil Shaw, divisional director at Interserve Construction, said: “Interserve Construction’s appointment as the PSCP on this project is a real testament to the expertise within our team and our excellent track record in delivering some of the best NHS facilities in the UK where have demonstrated our capabilities on major landmark projects including the Christies Proton Beam Therapy in Manchester and the Rutherford Cancer Centre in Liverpool.”
