Mitie has won a five-year contract to provide engineering services to NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) following a competitive retender worth £15m
Over five years, the win builds on Mitie’s 15-year partnership with the organisation. Mitie’s Engineering division will expand on its previous contract with NHSBT, increasing the delivery of services from 34 sites in the North of England to 76 locations nationwide.
NHSBT are an essential part of the National Health Service providing the blood donation service for England and the organ donation service for the UK as well as donated tissues, stem cells and cord blood.
Mitie will provide planned and reactive engineering maintenance to NHSBT’s estate, including the critical systems which support the provision of blood, tissues and organs. Mitie’s round the clock support will reflect the 24/7 nature of NHSBT and contribute to saving and improving patient’s lives.
Carlo Alloni, managing director of engineering and integrated FM at Mitie, said: “Following 15 successful years of partnership, we are incredibly proud to be broadening our engineering services to support the vital work of NHS Blood and Transplant.
“We look forward to bringing our engineering expertise to dozens more NHSBT sites across the country and to support the life-saving services it provides for thousands of patients every year.”
