CityFibre, a UK alternative provider of wholesale full fibre infrastructure, has awarded Granemore Group a £39m contract for its fibre rollout in Northampton
The project is the latest location in which build is underway as part of CityFibre’s investment programme to target full fibre rollout to over 20% of the UK market by 2025.
East Midlands-based Granemore Group was awarded CityFibre’s first city-wide construction contract in Milton Keynes last year. The construction of Milton Keynes’s new full fibre network was praised for its demonstration of both speed and build-quality.
Construction work on Northampton’s fibre network has already begun and is due to last up to three years. The CityFibre investment programme will benefit almost all residents, businesses and public sector sites in the city by bringing them future-proof network and gigabit-speed broadband services.
The £2.5bn City Fibre investment programme targets the rollout of wholesale full fibre infrastructure to more than five million homes and businesses across more than 60 towns and cities by 2025.
CityFibre has already been mobilised in 27 towns and cities and has network construction underway in 16 of them creating 1,600 construction jobs. Gigabit-speed services are already live in 10 cities.
