The HBF Star Rating scheme has been expanded, with the addition of major structural warranty providers Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty
Home builders and developers who are members of the Home Builders Federation (HBF) will now be eligible to opt into the HBF Star Rating scheme via Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty’s New Homes Survey.
The nationwide HBF survey recognises excellence in customer satisfaction by awarding participating members a rating of between one and five stars based on homeowners’ feedback.
In 2021 almost 100,000 questionnaires were sent out to new build home buyers, with 91% saying they would “recommend their builder to a friend.”
Data for the scheme will be collected via the New Homes Survey carried out by Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty, and the National New Homes Survey through the National House-Building Council (NHBC).

Backed by A-rated insurers, they work alongside house builders and developers large and small to help construct new homes and developments.
HBF is the principal representative body for private sector home builders and voice of the home building industry in England and Wales.

A barometer for a house builders’ performance
HBF Executive Chairman Stewart Baseley commented: “The star rating scheme is seen as the barometer for a house builders’ performance with regards to customer service. The industry is already surveying around 100,000 customers annually and the addition of Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty should allow for the opinions of even more to be considered.
