Community feedback has been encouraged on designs such as this, a view of looking at the proposed HS2 Station and taxi rank entrance on North Square

The local community has been invited to a series of HS2 Euston feedback events on the design of the new station, starting on Wednesday 30 November 2022

HS2 has encouraged feedback from the local community at a series of events demonstrating the design development of HS2 Euston station.

Updated plans for both the station building and urban surroundings will be revealed at the event. It is hoped the year-long engagement programme and station development will revitalise the Euston area.

The plans for HS2 Euston have already been developed with community feedback

Initial events were held in May and June this year when the new design for the station was revealed, updated from a previous iteration, in response to feedback from nearly 500 members of the public.

The proposals are based on a less complex, more efficient, ten-platform station, which can now be built in a single stage.

HS2 is now sharing changes made since then in response to feedback from the public and is also revealing new elements of the design.

Project updates include greater accessibility and more open spaces

The updates since spring 2022 include proposals for the southern entrance building for the London Underground, a new transport operators’ building, as well as plans for accessibility and open spaces.

The newly revealed elements stay true to the overall design vision, and ambition to create a public space that is accessible and vibrant, with a mix of community and passenger uses.

The team developing the plans is made up of Arup, WSP, Grimshaw, Haptic and LDA Design, working into HS2’s Station Construction Partner, Mace Dragados JV (MDJV).

A week of events will begin on Wednesday 30th November

Events include exhibitions, webinars and a market stall showcasing the updated designs:

  • Exhibitons will be held on Wednesday 30th November, 2022, 3pm to 8pm, The Surma Centre, 1 Robert Street NW1 3JU and Saturday 3rd December 2022, 10am to 3pm, Maria Fidelis Catholic School, 1-39 Drummond Crescent NW1 1LY
  • Webinars will be on Monday 5th December 2022, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and on Wednesday 7th December 2022 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm
  • A market stall at Charlton Street Market on Friday 2nd December from 10am to 2pm

HS2 encourages the public to come along and give feedback on the designs

HS2’s Euston area director, Laurence Whitbourn, commented:

“We are working hard to incorporate community feedback into our designs for Euston and make the station and surrounding area a place that local residents and rail passengers can enjoy and feel proud of.

“We hope to welcome members of the local community to our events so they can understand the proposals for HS2 Euston station and have their say on its future.”

In Spring 2023, HS2 Ltd will provide the community with a further update and explain how the final design of HS2 Euston has been shaped with feedback, which will be submitted to London Borough of Camden as part of the Schedule 17 process.
