I-Construct launches its free Enterprise Readiness events programme to help spark entrepreneurship and innovation in the construction sector
Want to create an innovative new product or service for the construction industry but don’t know where to begin? Join I-Construct for free and they will help you develop your concept into a viable business through its free Enterprise Readiness events programme.
The I-Construct Enterprise Readiness events programme is for innovators and entrepreneurs. Anyone interested can sign up for free and learn how to make a product or service into a viable business launch. Membership to I-Construct is free as it is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
How does the Enterprise Readiness events programme work?
The initial session is to provide inspiration: an industry leader will discuss issues that the industry is facing and then it is up to the attendees to respond to that problem. A series of information sessions will following, including:
- Creative Problem Solving
- Developing Your Vision
- Business Planning
- Funding
There are additional monthly networking opportunities where participants can discuss ideas, gain support and collaborate with other I-Construct business members. All in all, the programme offers over 12 hours of free support.
The Enterprise Readiness events programme will run twice over the course of this year. The first is due to begin this month. Information sessions will be delivered online, whilst some networking sessions will be hybrid events and so held online and in-person at the £2.3 million I-Construct Innovation Hub in Essex.
What more can an entrepreneur gain from being an I-Construct member?
In addition to the Enterprise Readiness events, the I-Construct team regularly hosts lectures by industry experts. Members can gain insight on relevant topics such as offsite construction, renewable energy, zero-carbon construction, BIM software, and more.
Are you interested in the programme but already part of an established start-up and ready to launch a new product? If so, you may be eligible for support through the I-Construct Market Readiness programme, run with the Building Research Establishment (BRE).
The I-Construct programme is managed by the Haven Gateway Partnership and project partners include Braintree District Council, BRE (Building Research Establishment), Colchester Institute, and Daedalus Environmental.
The Enterprise Readiness Programme is also supported by several major construction employers including Willmott Dixon and Countryside Properties.
‘The need for innovation in the construction sector is significant’
Anita Thornberry, executive director of the Haven Gateway Partnership said:
“The need for innovation in the construction sector is significant and we know there are many businesses out there with concepts that are relevant to the industry. This programme provides, for free, help in starting up a business as well as access to market plus membership to a construction network that is gaining real traction with the sector. There is nothing for young businesses to lose and everything to gain by participating in this programme.”
Richard Davidson added:
“It is really important for all businesses to network and share best practices as we move forward into a more sustainable future, at Willmott Dixon we believe the built environment sector has so many great reasons to be positive.”
