Keltbray has revealed it will buy the assets of concrete frame contractor Dunne Group in a move that will save jobs at the collapsed firm

In July, the Dunne Group collapsed following financial pressures. The firm, which has its head office in Bathgate, West Lothian, ceased work with 524 staff made redundant.

However, the firm has been offered a reprieve after demolition specialist Keltbray revealed it would buy the assets of the collapsed firm.

Keltbray currently employs over 1,000 people and has a turnover of £270m. It is understood Dunne’s existing contract work will not be included as part of the deal, as much of it has been transferred to other contractors. However, it will include the former yard and head office in Bathgate, as well as the plant used for reinforced concrete structures.

FRP Advisory were brought in to handle the process of administration, but the deal is expected to save many of the jobs expected to be lost.

A spokesperson for Keltbray said: “Keltbray sees this as an opportunity to broaden its capability and services portfolio, widen its geographical reach and to respond to market demands.”

The deal will help Keltbray move into the mainstream construction market. The firm has already expanded into rail work and piling.
