Central Bedfordshire Construction Framework

Leading construction and infrastructure services provider Kier has been awarded a place on Lots 4 and 5 of the Central Bedfordshire Construction Framework

The Central Bedfordshire Construction Framework is the first of its type to be released by Bedfordshire Council and will run for four years.

Lot 4 covers projects worth £8m-£15m and will likely include a mix of major projects for refurbishments, remodelling and new builds.

Lot 5 is for projects over £15m and is likely to include the same: a mix of major projects for refurbishments, remodelling and new builds.

The Central Bedfordshire Construction Framework may extend beyond Central Bedfordshire Council

Projects procured under the framework will mainly cover Central Bedfordshire Council but could also include work for other public contracting authorities and bodies, such as East Anglia, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Mark Dady, managing director at Kier Eastern & Midlands, said:

“We’re extremely pleased to have been awarded a place on the inaugural framework, which will deliver a large number of public sector schemes over the next four years and provide us with the opportunity to use our strong regional supply chain and technical expertise to delivery exceptional value for Central Bedfordshire Council and the community.”

‘Having our own procurement framework… will offer cost savings and speed up the procurement process’

Councillor and executive member for housing and assets Eugene Ghent said:

“Having our own procurement framework and choosing from a carefully selected group of firms has significant benefits. It will offer cost savings and speed up the procurement process meaning we can get schemes built quicker.

“Importantly, we will work closely with a smaller number of firms forging important relationships and this collaborative working will ensure we can deliver quality, value for money projects which support our ambitions for Central Bedfordshire and our residents. We look forward to working closely with our selected partners over the next four years as we build prosperity for our local communities.”

This appointment to the Central Bedfordshire Construction Framework follows on from Kier’s recent successes on regional frameworks, including the £150m Cambridgeshire County Council Design & Building Contractor Framework, awarded late last year and the £1.8bn Procure Partnerships North West Framework, awarded earlier this year.
