MEP contractor Kane has landed a £29m design and build contract with Balfour Beatty to deliver the MEP installation at Lewisham Gateway Phase 2
The 26-month MEP contract consists of the design and construction of 649 residential units ranging in height from 11 to 30-storeys.
The dwellings will facilitate 530 residential apartments with the remaining 119 being utilised for Co-Living.
The Lewisham Gateway Phase 2 scheme also incorporates retail units, a space for a cinema, the construction and fit-out of a co-living facility, a co-working building with a category A fit-out, gym space and a below-ground energy centre.
Kane will deliver efficient offsite construction solutions by incorporating prefabricated utility pods, in each residential unit.
Additionally, the energy centre will be prefabricated offsite, along with corridor service modules containing all landlords low-temperature hot water, boosted cold water and sprinkler pipework, and electrical containment.
All offsite construction solutions will be designed and manufactured at Kane’s prefabrication facility in Northern Ireland by their specialist in-house teams.
Further works include the full public health installation throughout the project consisting of all above ground foul and rainwater pipework and domestic cold-water system, served by cold-water storage plant rooms.
