Mayfield Property Group has secured planning permission from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea for two penthouse apartments at its historic Logan House development on Logan Place in Kensington

The planning permission will allow for the creation of an additional storey atop Logan House, a development of ten high end new build apartments spanning 28,000 square feet, that Mayfield completed in 2016, which it retained for investment purposes.

Logan House stands on the site of the former London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the oldest drama school in the UK founded in 1861, which spawned many of the UK’s top acting talents including David Suchet, Patria Hodge, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The new development will deliver an additional two, high quality, three-bedroom penthouse apartments, with direct lift access, secure underground parking, as well as private terraces. The anticipated gross development value is expected to be in the order of £7m.

Mayfield is currently mobilising to commence the construction works and expect to be on site in the next four weeks and anticipate achieving Practical Completion approximately eight months thereafter. Upon completion, the intention is to add the two penthouses to the group’s investment portfolio for long term income purposes.

Joseph Mansour, managing director of Mayfield, said: “We are very pleased to have been granted planning permission by RBKC for this exciting new residential scheme in the heart of Kensington.

“Given the sensitivity of the site we worked in close collaboration with RBKC and local residents to ensure our proposals were supported by all stakeholders and are pleased with the result. Our proposed additional storey will be in keeping with the architectural language of the existing building and will complete the overall composition more satisfactorily.”

Logan Place is located in London W8 to the south of Edwards Square. It is 8 minutes’ walk from the High Street Kensington. The closest Underground Stations are High Street Kensington and Earls Court.

The scheme is expected to complete in Q2 2020.
