The brownfield site will be converted into Link Logistics Park, consisting of a single unit and industrial space spanning more than 760,000 sq., making it the biggest single cross-docked industrial warehouse being developed in the UK this year
Following the successful delivery of Ascent Logistics Park in Leighton Buzzard, Firethorn have decided to use Winvic again, making it their second deal together.
Groundworks have already been completed for Links Logistics Park at the Ellesmere Port site, with construction to follow shortly. Completion is expected by Q4 2022.
Design and building standards
Winvic is known for their strong sustainability credentials and so Links Logistics Park will be built to net-zero carbon standards, with future provisions for renewable energy supply.
The design includes:
- LED lighting to offices
- photovoltaic arrays
- 32 electric vehicle charging points, with ducting in place for additional 32 spaces
- up to 25MV of power will also be available from a local carbon-neutral ‘Waste to Energy’ facility.
‘This is an ambitious, yet hugely exciting development for Firethorn’
Commenting on the appointment, Paul Martin, development director at Firethorn Trust said:
“As the UK’s largest speculative logistics scheme, this is an ambitious, yet hugely exciting development for Firethorn.
“We have been impressed by Winvic’s extensive knowledge, experience and ability to deliver a project of this scale, and look forward to working with the team to swiftly bring our vision for Link Logistics Park to life.”
‘A landmark development’
Winvic’s director of Industrial, Distribution & Logistics, Danny Nelson, added:
“Winvic’s reputation for delivering quality industrial schemes is evidently being bolstered by our ability to deliver our clients’ net zero ambitions.
“It’s fantastic to be working on such a landmark development, whilst building upon our partnership with Firethorn, whose presence within the UK logistics market continues to grow. We’re very much looking forward to commencing work on site and exceeding expectations at every step.”
