Wates Residential has been appointed by Brent Council to build 99 new council homes in Brent, Church End

Wates will begin building the new council homes in Brent this month, with completion due by 2025.

The development forms part of the council’s Masterplan to deliver 1,300 new homes for Church End, as well as hundreds of employment/training opportunities and improved infrastructure by 2041.

This particular project will generate 16 apprenticeships and 20 objective-based work placements for local people.

As part of the £30m regeneration scheme, a new market square and a range of shops will be developed in a former car park.

Much-needed new council homes for Church End

Cllr Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, said: “We have big ambitions for Church End, with residents and local community groups helping us shape a 20 year transformation plan for the area.

We are beginning this journey by investing in almost 100 much-needed new council homes in the heart of the neighbourhood. Our partnership with Wates will be so important to the delivery of this scheme and we are pleased to be working with them again.

Alongside this we will be revitalising the high street, creating a safer and greener space for the community.

This will bring a new wave of opportunities for local people and will mark the start of a brighter future for our local residents.”

Helen Bunch, executive managing director, Wates Residential, says: “These new homes in Church End will be safe, warm and comfortable places for local people to thrive in.

“We believe everyone deserves a great place to live, and an important part of this is the far-reaching economic, social and environmental benefits to local people and businesses that we will be generating along the way.

“Having recently successfully delivered 149 homes for people in Brent at Knowles House and Anansi House, we are delighted to be building on our legacy and bringing our brand of regeneration back to the borough.”
