Catalyst and Redrow have been given the green light for a £170m partnership to build 420 new homes in Brentford
Catalyst and Redrow’s scheme for 420 new homes in Brentford, Hounslow has now received resolution to grant planning from LB Hounslow’s planning committee.
The scheme features 50% affordable housing, in a mix of shared ownership, London affordable rent and affordable rent, as well as one, two- and three-bedroom homes available for private sale.
Located just five minutes’ walk from Kew Bridge station, the site presents an excellent opportunity to deliver the new homes in Brentford and workspace that London needs.
Designed by Turner Architects, the scheme will also feature up to 45,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space, as well as a new public realm along Capital Interchange Way which will link to the nearby Brentford Stadium development.
Properties have been designed to ensure that interiors are flooded with light, while externally the building will feature expanses of buff brick which perfectly resonates with the areas surrounding London stock buildings, and which is offset by re-constituted stone and cement finish cladding. A roof terrace, as well as two internal community amenity podiums, will feature, offering beautifully landscaped gardens and specially designed play areas for children.
Philip Jenkins, group development director for Catalyst, said: “This project will provide excellent quality, genuinely affordable homes for Londoners and I’m delighted that we’ve made such a significant step towards starting on site.
“This new neighbourhood will re-invigorate an underutilised piece of land and has been designed to integrate with the surrounding wider regeneration of Brentford.”
Mark Parker, managing director at Redrow London, added: “We are excited to be delivering more quality homes for Londoners in partnership with Catalyst. Now our second scheme in Hounslow, this development is a true reflection of our desire to provide a range of homes to a broad range of people.
“With its quality design and diverse range of resident and community amenities, this development perfectly summarises what Redrow is all about – creating a better way for people to live.”
The partnership is the first between Redrow Homes and ‘Catalyst by Design’, a subsidiary of Catalyst and was formed in August 2018 to deliver this scheme. Together, the pair will take the proposals through planning, development and delivery, with Redrow managing the construction of the scheme.
Redrow and Catalyst will now seek to get final approval from both the London Borough of Hounslow and the Greater London Authority, before starting on site in spring 2020.
