Outline planning permission has been submitted to the local council for a new development comprising of 2,000 homes

The development of 2,000 new homes near Gaydon, Warwickshire, has taken a step closer to fruition after the first phase was submitted to planning officials.

The proposals, lodged by Nexus Planning on behalf of the Commercial Estates Group and the Bird Group, include the construction of 2,000 new homes, a village centre with a supermarket, accommodation for the elderly, a primary school, community hub, health centre, sports facilities, and a 116-acre ecological reserve.

Managing Director of Nexus Planning Roger Tustain said: “This is an important scheme for Stratford which is going to provide major social and economic benefits to the local area giving existing and future local employees the opportunity to live and work in close proximity to one another.

“By ensuring the development includes a wide range of housing types and tenures, including facilities such a primary school and a proper new village centre, we are planning to create an exemplar self-contained sustainable community, whilst addressing the need for good quality housing and improving the transport connections to an important employment and community hub.”

The site, which measures around 346-acres, will form part of a 741-acre strategic allocation in Stratford District Council’s core strategy for 3,000 new homes, as well as 247-acres of land to expand Jaguar Land Rover, and 11-acres to expand Aston Martin Lagonda.
