Kier has been appointed to deliver two redevelopment projects in London worth £107m – The Fitzrovia and 1&2 Macfarlane Place
The Fitzrovia will provide eight residential apartments, 65,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and 8,000 sq ft of flexible retail and education space over six stories, on Tottenham Court Road.
The facade will consist of both ceramic and brick faced precast concrete panels, with glazing installed offsite and craned into position as finished bays.
The 88,000 sq ft redevelopment project has targets of BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold, WIRED Platinum, and NABERS accreditation.
‘Private and communal outdoor terraces’
David Hutton, director at CO—RE, said in a statement: “The Fitzrovia will go beyond the requirements of the modern occupier, providing a high-end design and flexible commercial space just moments from the transformed Tottenham Court Road Station.
“As we step into a new era, access to outside space is an increasingly important consideration for all occupiers. The Fitzrovia will meet this demand through the provision of both private and communal outdoor terraces.”
1&2 Macfarlane Place second phase
1&2 Macfarlane Place will comprise 142 mixed tenure residential apartments which will offer London affordable rent, London living rent and shared ownership properties. As well as 2821 sq. ft. of flexible commercial space at ground floor level.
The 151,000 sq ft project will comprise two residential blocks, eight-storeys and nine-storeys.
The scheme is a joint venture between Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo to redevelop the BBC Television Centre in White City.
‘Relationships with long-term blue-chip clients’
Liam Cummins, Group managing director at Kier Construction, said: “We are delighted to be delivering on our strategic goal of market growth through developing our relationships with long-term blue-chip clients.
“These high profile wins not only grow our portfolio in the London market, but they also build on our technical excellence and experience in delivering large-scale mixed-use and residential schemes.
“In line with our clients’ visions and our Building for a Sustainable World framework we welcome the opportunity to leave lasting sustainable and social legacies in the vibrant communities of both these projects through our off-site, carbon saving and social value approach.”
