Weston Homes has acquired the Grade II listed Cambridge Military Hospital in Aldershot to deliver a £60m residential conversion project

The residential conversion of Cambridge Military Hospital is part of the Aldershot Urban Extension scheme, now known as Wellesley, being delivered by Grainger plc.

The Cambridge Military Hospital site will provide 140 new private sale homes, converted and new build, including one, two and three-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses set in landscaped grounds.

The purchase agreement includes 169,267 sqft of refurbished, new build and commercial buildings including the main Cambridge Military Hospital building, Gunhill House, Gunhill Water Tower, Louise Margaret Hospital, Nurse’s Residence, Cambridge House and St Michael’s House.

Weston Homes plan to start the restoration and conversion of the Victorian hospital and ancillary buildings in the summer of 2019, with the project anticipated to be phased over several years.

Reflecting the importance of the heritage buildings, the project incorporates a team of award-winning architectural practices with the masterplan devised by Adam Urbanism, detailed architectural design by Feilden & Mawson for the Cambridge Military Hospital; Omega Partnership for the Louise Margaret Hospital and former Nurse’s Residence; Adam Architecture for Gun Hill House & Gun Hill Water Tower; and Thrive Architecture for Cambridge House & St Michael’s House, and Allen Pyke Associates for the landscape design.

Whilst Weston Homes focus on the restoration of the Cambridge Military Hospital, Grainger plc will continue spearheading the ongoing delivery of the wider Wellesley, Aldershot Urban Extension Scheme, which will deliver 3,850 new homes, and community and leisure facilities.
