Construction work has begun to build over 300 homes on two Sheffield development sites: the first site Eclipse Phase 2 is on Harborough Avenue and the second one is Pennine Village and located just off Manor Lane

Upon completion, 210 homes will be built at Eclipse Phase 2, and 101 at Pennine Village.

Sheffield Housing Company (SHC) wants to increase its portfolio to seven Sheffield development sites. This will see 600 homes built across three neighbourhoods in Sheffield – Manor, Norfolk Park and Parson Cross.

By the end of 2027, SHC is aiming to have 2,300 properties on 23 sites. This will not only help with the housing crisis but also positively contribute to the local economic situation by creating jobs and community investment in Sheffield.

Both of these Sheffield development sites are the latest from (SHC), Sheffield City Council’s joint venture development company with private sector partners Keepmoat Homes and Great Places Housing Group.

Funding

Homes England is contributing £3.2m towards the Sheffield development sites. This sum will make sure that the local housing need is met. An additional £1.5m in funding is from Sheffield City Region.

Since its formation in 2011, the regeneration partnership has created over 800 jobs, 75 apprenticeships and spent more than £80 completing over 1150 homes in the South Yorkshire region.

‘Enabling local people to achieve home ownership’

Steve Birch, project director with SHC said:

“It is testament to the hard work, commitment and drive of our partners and Homes England support, that we are able to start work on these two sites.

“Despite the pandemic and devastating impact, it has had for many, both personally and professionally, there is significant investment in and around the city.

“As a regeneration partnership it is our responsibility to ensure that we are providing access to quality, affordable homes that are enabling local people to achieve home ownership and attracting others to consider moving to the area.”
