Tritax Symmetry – the development arm of Tritax Big Box REIT plc (TBBR) – working in a joint venture, has submitted a planning application for Swizzels for a new manufacturing facility at MA6NITUDE in Middlewich.
The news comes shortly after the JV exchanged contracts with Swizzels which will see the development of a new manufacturing facility for the sweet maker.
The project team includes AEW Architects and Avison Young’s planning team.
First phase of development
Commenting on the planning application, David Nuttall, development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “With the deal now signed, our focus is firmly set on delivering this new premium facility for Swizzels.
“Our plan is to start on site in Q3 subject to a positive outcome of the planning process. This unit is the first phase of development for Swizzels and we have the ability to bring forward an additional 300,000 sq ft on this plot.”
The wider project team includes; Avison Young (planning), AEW (architect), RPS (PM/QS), CMS (legal), and Shepherd Gilmour (engineers).
Legat Owen, Savills and B8 Real Estate are joint letting agents for the scheme.
Savills, Beaumont Lord and Land Law represented Swizzels Matlow.
Located just off Junction 18 of the M6, MA6NITUDE offers plots from three up to 53 acres and buildings can be delivered from 40,000 – 638,000 sq ft.
In February, Tritax Symmetry revealed it had exchanged contracts with Swizzels Matlow for the delivery of a 158,000 sq ft facility at MA6NITUDE.
David Nuttall, development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “Bringing a well-respected and long-established company to MA6NITUDE is a huge coup for both the scheme and the region.
“Swizzels’ decision to choose MA6NITUDE as the location for such a significant investment in growing their business emphasises the quality of the site and their confidence in our ability to deliver this new manufacturing facility.
“This is also excellent news for Middlewich too, bringing a range of good quality jobs to the area.”
