Tilbury Douglas has completed construction on a new £6.3m Same Day Emergency Care Centre at Warrington Hospital
Construction has been completed on a £6.3m Same Day Emergency Care Centre by Tilbury Douglas for Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The new facilities allow for a greater number of patients seeking swift evaluation
The 1,170sqm, two-story extension offers a new 24-7 service allowing patients to access rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment. The ward may reduce hospital admissions by being able to see patients and if clinically safe to do so, discharge home on the same day.
The development is located on the Appleton Wing, which handles Warrington Hospital’s emergency services.
The hospital sees over 100,000 patients a year, who will benefit from the projected social value of the development.
A variety of techniques were used to deliver the Centre
The fast track, nine-month project used digital technologies, modern methods of construction and split shifting to accelerate delivery allowing the Trust to open the new Centre to patients sooner.
Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, commented: “We are proud to have successfully delivered this fast track scheme in under nine months. It is such an important scheme for the Trust, as it will increase capacity for the local community at a time when the NHS needs it most. During the project, the team worked hard with the local community to deliver a Social Value Return on Investment of £2.4m.”
