Weston homes have received planning approval from Brentwood Borough Council for their new £19m Brentwood apartment scheme

The new Brentwood apartment scheme will provide 60 mixed-tenure apartments, located on Brentwood High Street on Western Road.

Construction of the new Brentwood apartment scheme is set to begin in October 2022, with the sales launch planned for Spring 2023 and build completion anticipated in Summer 2024.

The new apartment scheme will help to deliver 60 new homes in Brentwood, comprised of 39 one- and two-bedroom market sale apartments, 11 one-bedroom discount-market-sale apartments for local people living and working in the Borough and 10 one and two-bedroom affordable rental apartments.

The mixture of tenures ensures that 35% of the development provides much needed affordable housing for local people in Brentwood, and will also deliver a private landscaped residents’ courtyard garden, an under-croft carpark with 31 bays and 68 cycle spaces.

Architecture and design work was undertaken by Weston Homes’ own in-house architecture team, with landscaping and planting designed by DUTCH Landscape Architects, with input from Hayden’s Arboricultural Consultants.

Residents in the Brentwood apartment scheme each have access to their own private outdoor space in the form of either a balcony or terrace, with large floor-to-ceiling windows to fill the homes with light.

Residents also have access to the large south-facing courtyard garden which will be complete with seating and trees, as well as an upper seating area with informal chairs and greenery. Both outdoor spaces make for beautiful communal areas for residents to enjoy and create a sense of community within the development.

Each apartment complies with the National Space Standards and is wheelchair adaptable. The apartments have been designed with sustainability in mind, intending to ensure low air leakage levels, insulated flooring, walls and roofs as well as energy-efficient lighting throughout.

Plenty of cycle spaces is provided to encourage cycling in place of other modes of transport in line with the Brentwood Council Cycle Strategy.

The Brentwood apartment scheme will provide much needed affordable housing

Bob Weston, chairman and managing director at Weston Homes commented: “Weston Homes is delighted to have been granted planning approval by Brentwood Borough Council for our new apartment development on Western Road in Brentwood.

“Weston Homes has a strong relationship with Brentwood Borough Council which started in 2018 when we agreed to redevelop the former Brentwood Police Station site into a new residential development known as 1023 West.

“Our new apartment scheme on Western Road will provide much needed affordable housing for local people living and working in Brentwood and will also provide market sale homes for first time buyers and young couples who want to live in stylish apartments close to Brentwood high street.”
