Interserve Construction has been awarded a £5m contract by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust to carry out extension works at Wythenshawe hospital
The Wythenshawe hospital project will comprise of two theatre suites – including associated ancillary accommodation and a recovery area with six-bed bays. The facility will have the capacity for future expansion to include a third theatre.
The development will comprise of a new extension, located next to the Wythenshawe hospital’s current theatre department and above the new Emergency Department extension, also built by Interserve.
The extension will be connected to the existing hospital Acute Medical Facility via a new link corridor at first-floor level.

It is hoped the extension works will begin in April 2021, with a completion date of January 2022.
This appointment follows the two recent wins for Interserve Construction in Birmingham. One new teaching block for Colmer’s School and four new operating theatres for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
