New figures from the Electrical Contractors’ Association have revealed a significant number of electrical and building services specialists saw growth in turnover during Q2 2016…

Turnover for almost eight in 10 electrical and building services specialists increased or stayed steady during the second quarter of this year.

The figures, which were compiled by the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), showed confidence in the second quarter after Brexit, with some 82 per cent expecting to see turnover grow or remain the same during the third quarter.

Turnover was good for small business (turnover £201k-£1m), with nearly three in four firms reporting their figures remained steady or grew. This was up seven per cent on the previous quarter.

Eight in 10 medium sized firms (turnover 1.1m to £5m) and large companies (£5.1m to £20m) also saw growth, with the former increasing seven per cent on Q1, and the latter seeing a slight rise.

Businesses with a turnover of more than £20m saw five in 10 firms grow or remain steady, which was a 35 per cent increase.

ECA CEO Steve Bratt said: “The ECA’s business survey for Q2 indicates that electrical and building services firms have been doing more business, despite potential challenges in the wider economy.”
