Minister of State for Skills and Construction Nick Boles will be the keynote speaker at the Construction Equipment Association’s Annual Conference…

This year’s Construction Equipment Association (CEA) Annual Conference will be held on 18 November 2015 at the HQ of the Institute of Civil Engineers, One Great George Street, London.

The conference, which will focus on factors that will make the UK construction equipment sector more successful, will feature keynote speaker Nick Boles, Minister of State for Skills and Construction.

Boles, who has responsibility across both the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Education (DfE), has sway over apprenticeships and is responsible for the Skills Funding Agency. This provides grants for training for further education in England, totalling around £3.7bn each year.

Broadcaster and journalist Nick Higham will return as MC and will be joined by a number of other experts including Managing Director of Off-Highway Research David Phillips. He will discuss markets at the conference.

Professor Sir Mike Gregory, of the University of Cambridge’s Engineering Department and the Institute for Manufacturing will focus on skills during the event. He will be joined by Nick Baseley, President of the CEA and sales director of EAME Industrial Power Systems Division, Perkins Engines.

Other topics of discussion will include the High-Speed Rail project. Head of Excavated & Bulk Materials HS2 Infrastructure Directorate Bill Quigley will lead this.

There will also be a section on “Fuels of the Future”, the “driverless machine”, and the “Thames Tunnel Update”. The speakers for these segments have yet to be confirmed.

CEA members and guests can attend the conference for free. Non-CEA members have a delegate fee of £175 plus VAT.
