National equipment and crane hire firm Hewden has made a £2.5m deal with JCB to receive 50 skid-steer and compact tracked loaders…
In a deal worth some £2.5m, plant equipment manufacturer JCB will provide 50 skid-steer and compact tracked loaders to Hewden.
The equipment and crane hire firm made the deal for JCB 155 and 205T tracked models. This was secured due to the health and safety benefits of the ‘power boom’ design of the skid-steer range. This allows operators to enter the cab through a side door, rather than climbing over potentially dangerous front attachments.
The deal will add more variety and versatility to Hewden’s fleet by including a range of JCB attachments for the machinery.
Chief executive officer Adrian Murphy said: “We believe in having the latest and newest technology to meet our clients’ exacting demands, and we were impressed with the design of JCB’s skid-steer and compact tracked loader range, and the health and safety benefits it offers.
“Having a side-door entry point is just common sense and sets the standard for the industry. Beyond that is the versatility of the equipment: it enables our hire customers to deploy the equipment in a range of challenging environments.
“This, together with our recent investment in our crane and lifting fleet, shows we are at the forefront of providing the latest innovative machinery for customers.”
Gunn JCB supplied the loaders, which form a significant round of investment for Hewden.
JCB’s chief executive officer Graeme Macdonald said: “This order is very significant for JCB and we are delighted that such a major hirer as Hewden recognizes the unique health and safety benefits of the JCB skid-steer range.”
