The Construction Plant-hire Association announce its 2015 conference – The Future of Construction Plant Hire…

Following last year’s successful inaugural event CPA is busy planning and organising this year’s CPA Plant Conference which will take place on Wednesday 4th November 2015 at Wyboston Lakes Conference Centre, near St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

The conference, held in association with MHM Plant, has a number of key speakers already lined up with more to follow. Moderating the conference once again will be Earthmovers Magazine Editor, Graham Black.

The purpose of the Conference is to become the principal point of discussion for construction plant issues in the UK. Speakers confirmed for the event include:

  • Jenny Elfsberg, director of Emerging Technologies at Volvo.  Jenny will be talking to delegates about Volvo’s technical developments in plant and machinery.
  • Professor Jason Underwood from University of Salford is a Professor in BIM (Building Information Modelling) and Construction ICT (Information Communications Technology).  Mr Underwood will be sharing his knowledge of the latest developments in BIM and discussing ‘Big Data’.

Another interesting subject matter on the CPA Conference agenda which is helping towards addressing the skills shortage within the construction industry is the ‘rehabilitation of young offenders through training’ and helping them to find jobs in the construction industry.   PC Sonya Hill MBE, a full-time Prince’s Trust coordinator for the West Midlands Police, will be discussing this initiative in detail.

CPA’s Tim Watson will be talking about a new safety guidance which the Strategic Forum Plant Safety group is currently working on – Preventing Adverse Consequences caused by Unintentional Movement of Construction Plant.

More speakers and subjects are to be announced in the coming weeks.

The CPA event will once again have an exhibition area – many of last year’s supporters have already secured their space following the success of the last event.  Supporters of the event include; Datatag, Leach Lewis Rubber Tracks, Higher Concept Software, Towergate Insurance, HSB Engineering Insurance and AJ Gallagher.

New for 2015 is a new outdoor exhibition area to allow exhibiting companies the display large equipment. Contact lisa@lisacollinscommunications.co.uk for details on sponsorship and exhibiting.

The event is being promoted to construction and civil engineering associations as well CPA members and other bodies in construction, and to public and private sector clients: attendance is open to anyone who has an interest in, or influence over, supplying or procuring plant.

Delegates can register to attend the event via the CPA website www.cpa.uk.net/conference.  Ticket price will be £49.80 inc VAT – held at the same as last year.
