A number of new roles have been created as one of Scotland’s largest plant hire firms invests more than £1m opening a new site
A major plant hire firm in Scotland will take on new staff as part of an expansion programme. Jarvie Plant Hire, one of Scotland’s largest plant hire businesses, has extended its operations into England.
The firm currently has eight depots across Scotland. Its latest acquisition comprises of a three-acre site in Astley. Up to 10 new members of staff could be taken on to run the site.
Jarvie Plant Hire said the Astley base will provide a range of equipment for hire. This will include telehandlers, dumpers, excavators, site accommodation, vehicles and generators as well as lighting. Among the equipment will be a 14-metre telehandler, which has already been hired by a Scottish-based groundworks contractor within days of the new plant equipment arriving at the facility.
Growth
Dave Ingleby, Jarvie Plant’s newly appointed North West regional operations manager, said: “The site we have acquired shows real commitment to the growth strategy of the business in establishing a presence south of the border.
“I am relishing the challenge of driving forward Jarvie’s first English depot and providing the same high quality plant and service commitment as we do in Scotland.”
Expansion into England marks part of Jarvie’s growth strategy to increase visibility across the UK.
