Plant hire equipment firm A-Plant has received 112 new Skyjack powered access platforms worth nearly £3m…

A-Plant, which operates under the Ashtead Group, has announced it has received delivery of an additional 112 Skyjack powered access platforms. The plant hire equipment firm said the order had cost nearly £3m.

Over the past 12 months A-Plant has placed orders for access equipment worth more than £14m. This latest investment will give the firm scissor lift models ranging from 26ft, 32ft, 40ft, and 50ft. It also includes the SJ 9241 diesel scissor lift. This piece of equipment has innovative features such as twin powered decks.

A-Plant Regional Managing Director Paul Dennis said: “We chose Skyjack machines because they are exceptionally well-proven in terms of quality, reliability and robustness.

“Over the years, they’ve proven to be an excellent investment and it goes without saying that these latest machines will serve our customers well, especially on large construction sites.”

The equipment has been delivered to A-Plant Powered Access Service Centres across the UK.

Earlier this month, Ashtead reported it had seen a strong performance in its equipment rentals, in particular at its US base. The company said it had experienced a significant growth in revenues, despite difficulties in the sector. Revenues rose by 26 per cent to £618.6m in the first quarter, with underlying revenues from rentals 20 per cent higher at £539.6m. It said growth in the US construction market had given it the necessary boost to make a profit.
